This is the mother of all tributes! Gibson is finally listening an awesome Les Paul for the workingman, not the mad collector that has more money than sense. These guitars come in 5 worn 50s style finishes, Satin Ebony, Satin White, Honey Brust, Gold Top, and Heritage Cherry Burst. These guitars are stacked with features, chambered mahogany bodies with maple tops finished in a Nitro Lacquer and mahogany necks! Every detail is oozing with significance, Kluson style tuners, Gibson’s USA P90 pickups, Nashville style tune-o-matic bridge. Now for the drum roll…first…these guitars come weighing in at an average whopping 5.13 lbs!!! Any amazingly enough these Les Pauls have a street price of $850!!!

Now I’m GASing and going to have to find one of these quick ;-)

Gibson has done it again with the release of their 50th Anniversary 1960 Black Beauty Les Paul Custom. Features include pair of BurstBucker pickups, CTS pots complete with “bumblebee” tone cap. The tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece are remnants from the original as appointed by Ted McCarty. All in all another fine special edition guitar from Gibson that is out of reach of most guitarists, but even so, you can’t deny the coolness factor.

Famed guitarist, songwriter extraordinaire Dweezil Zappa is holding a 4 day 5 night music boot camp for amateur and professional musicians alike. So if your thinking of somewhere to send your musically inclined kids or need a place to retreat for yourself maybe you should check it out. The camp will be held from June 21-24, 2010 at the Full Moon Resort in New York’s Catskill Mountains. Per Dweezil the camp is not designed to be a Zappa event or a “fantasy camp” but rather a intense musical gathering to discuss music of all styles.

This is my nod to The Who whom performed for Super Bowl 44. Sometimes nothing gets the blood pumping like a classic rock song. Even though my kids associate this song with CSI, I still love to air guitar to this one. Roger’s vocals sound great and Pete Townshend’s guitar sounds as raunchy as ever through those HiWatts. All while Entwhistle and Moon are holding the fort down rhythmically. This clip is from The Kids Are Alright. Crank it up and enjoy.

Cheers, Danny
