Well, it finally has become reality! The Warbird is based on a WWII theme. The inspiration for this guitar comes from the P51 Mustang flown in the latter days of WWII. The idea for the esquire guard came from the one seater cockpit in those planes. Like many of those “birds” this guitar body has seen some battles and conflict which is evident by its exterior :-) This is the first of many themed guitars I have in mind. Yes the body and the hardware are for sale on my shop site, as well as some other aged guitars bodies.

I was tweeted this from PRS Guitars. To be honest Davy Knowles slipped underneath my radar, I had never heard of this very talented young man. Shame on me, he is brilliant guitarist, sounds much more advanced than his age reveals, he is 22. Enjoy this video of his playing.

Also, the gear he is demoing is the new PRS Swamp Ash guitar which is outfitted with their narrowfield pickups, to my understanding they are basically a thin dual coil pickup with single coil personality to it. Take note of the tone of the bridge pickup which has a very twangy quality. Of course the guitar sounds great through the PRS Sweet 16 combo designed under the supervision of master amp guru Doug Sewell.

Enjoy

Gibson released their 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard. It is available in 3 different versions. Version 1 has a full round neck profile and is available in Heritage Cherry Sunburst and Heritage Dark Sunburst. Version 2 has a slim style neck profile and will be available in 2 faded burst colors Light Iced Tea and Sunset Tea Burst. Version 3 will be made available in a more colorfast Cherry Sunburst. There will only be 500 of these instruments made and they will be partnered with a Custom Shop case and of course a Certificate of Authenticity. The $8500.00 price tag suggests this guitar is not for the faint of heart, nor for the common workingman, but for the collector. However, some may be interested in trading their car or spouse for this guitar ;-)

PRS has pushed the envelope in their R&D and manufacturing departments and created the SE Torero a beautiful guitar that is billed as “THE” Shred Guitar! For this masterpiece, PRS incorporated some design elements that they have never utilized before, such as; neck thru body construction, active EMG pickups in the neck and bridge positions, and above all outfitted the Torero with a Floyd Rose 1000 series tremolo. The man and legacy himself, Paul Reed Smith dubs this guitar as “the shredder’s dream” on their website. Other features include a 25 1/2″ scale length, mahogany body with a flame maple veneer, 3 piece maple neck with an ebony bound fingerboard with no inlay. Sounds delicious!

Well, I will be observing NAMM 2010 from webdom this year and hopefully provide some updates as I can. This is one great looking guitar that I came across while browsing GuitarNoize.com

DBZ Guitars unveils the Bolero Banneret, the first in the new Regalia Series of guitars debuting at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show January 14 in Anaheim, California. The new Regalia Series takes guitar building, features and appointments to a new level by incorporating ornate metal embellishments. Utilizing new CNC technology, combined with old world hand casting, the ornate metal castings are of jeweler quality, detail and finish.

The Regalia Series will broaden the existing models by incorporating a finely crafted, metal, set-in on the bodies of the instruments. The ornate metal casting is designed in high detail and finished in 24k gold and nickel. To compliment the body’s metal casting, each guitar will have a matching truss rod cover at the headstock.

In addition to the new inlay, standard features of the Bolero Banneret include:
24.75” Set neck
Mahogany/Maple bodies
Mahogany neck/Ebony fingerboards
22 frets
Premier inlays
DBZ pick ups
Volume and Tone controls
Pick up selector
Coil tapping
Grover tuners
Chrome hardware
DBZ custom casted Stop Tail piece bridge
Street Price starting at $849.00 USD
To learn more about the new Bolero Banneret or the new Regalia Series, visit the company website at www.dbzguitars.com or visit their booth #3290 at the upcoming NAMM show.

This guitar started with a custom routed body from a TDPRI.com member. The body was setup for 2 P90 pickups which currently are the GFS Soapbar pickups. The neck is an Allparts TMO-FAT style, Gotta love that Louisville Slugger feel. A half tele bridge and kluson style tuners round out the details. The finish is actually a sonic blue looking stain that was sealed with Tru-Oil. I think the stain and light oil finish lend themselves to the guitar’s resonant character. Some sloppy playing and audio, but hopefully you can endure. Peace.

Telecaster® and two Stratocaster® guitar models are “guitars for the times”

The latest incarnations of Fender’s famous Telecaster and Stratocaster models comprise the new American Special series-built “by the people and for people” as value-conscious “guitars for the times.” They are designed specifically to bring the full Fender experience of a terrific-sounding, smooth-playing, rock-solid-built U.S.-made Fender guitar to the workingman without emptying his bank account.

The three instruments in the new series—the American Special Telecaster, American Special Stratocaster and American Special Stratocaster HSS—are highly affordable Fender electric guitars that are within the reach of an entire spectrum of players. As such, they share many features with their cousins in the acclaimed Highway One™ and American Standard series.

All three American Special guitars feature alder bodies with gloss urethane finishes, 9.5″-radius maple necks with jumbo frets, and Texas Special™ pickups (the Stratocaster HSS has an Atomic™ humbucking bridge pickup).

The American Special Telecaster has a vintage-style string-through-body Telecaster bridge with three brass saddles, a black pickguard, and is available in Olympic White and Three-color Sunburst. American Special Stratocaster has a vintage-style synchronized tremolo and white pickguard, and is available in Candy Apple Red and Two-color Sunburst. The American Special Stratocaster HSS has a rosewood fingerboard, black pickguard and vintage-style synchronized tremolo, and is available in Black and Three-color Sunburst.
