Here is a fantastic clip I was tipped off to from my brothers at The Gear Page featuring guitarist Eric Johnson. He takes a moment to share his pedal board layout, that uses a myriad of wires, as well as his complex 4 amp setup for live use and somehow makes it seem simpler as only he can. Be sure to enjoy the clip. Mr Johnson is currently on tour with other featured artists live Steve Vai, Jonny Lang, Susan Tedeschi, Living Colour and more on the Hendrix Experience Tour. A new album for Eric Johnson is slated to be released in early 2011.
Gibson has unveiled the new Firebird X guitar, available December 11. This guitar has a sexy look to it. Its comprised of a chambered ash body that they boasts weighs in at 2.3 lbs. its features a 23 fret neck with a 12″ radius, 3 FBX pickups for digital tone shaping, robo tuners, and a plethra of built in effects all for $5500.
I personally think the guitar would be much cooler with vintage tuners, great pickups and sans the robo stuff and built in effects, which I would presuppose would lower the price. And heaven forbid if Gibson unveiled something great and affordable. I think they have painted themselves into a corner where quantity sold is irrelevant and awesome affordability would tarnish the elitist brand they have developed. Gibson has done it again with the release of their 50th Anniversary 1960 Black Beauty Les Paul Custom. Features include pair of BurstBucker pickups, CTS pots complete with “bumblebee” tone cap. The tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece are remnants from the original as appointed by Ted McCarty. All in all another fine special edition guitar from Gibson that is out of reach of most guitarists, but even so, you can’t deny the coolness factor.

WOW! I really enjoyed some time I had recently with the Vox Satchurator Pedal. It was clear to me that the intent on these pedals was not just focused on replicating Satch’s tone, but on creating a palette of usable tones for guitarists of all genres. This YouTube video is a sneak peak of the new Vox Ice 9 Overdrive Pedal. Check it out!
Well the good folks over at Electro-Harmonix have unveiled the new Deluxe Memory Boy analog delay pedal. I have personally been looking for a replacement delay for my pedalboard and this pedal is one that has been in my sights. Check out this thorough YouTube video that demos and showcases not on the Delay Pedal’s features but some creative effects that can be achieved when you add additional effects into your pedal chain. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.
Be sure to check out the Electro-Harmonix website for the lowdown on the specs and other pedals shown in this video.

Dunlop has released the MXR Micro Chorus and Micro Flanger pedals . These pedals tip their hat to their previous incarnations, that were first introduced in the 80’s, and use bucket brigade technology for processing. The Micro Chorus simply has a RATE knob to control the speed. The Micro Flanger has a RATE knob to control the speed of cycling and a REGEN knob to control the overall intensity. These pedals differ from their 80s counterparts by introducing true bypass switching so they refrain from tone sucking. Prices are $79 for the Micro Chorus and $89 for the Micro Flanger.
